In dealing with a girl or a horse, one lets nature take its course.
– Fred Astaire
My name is Laurie Watase-Bohn. I am the owner and founder of Team Horse Training, located in Clayton, California. Born into a horse family, I soon became deeply involved in Pony Club, and the Morgan show ring. My passion for horses has only grown since this start. Under the guidance of Chris Hiller, my lifelong trainer and mentor, I have been able to experience and learn from a wide variety of disciplines and training methods. I have worked with natural horsemanship cowboys such a Harry Whitney, Eventing greats such as Brian Sabo, spent time in Massachusetts working with the dressage master, Vitor Silva and in Amserdam with 4DimensionDressage trainer, Karin Leibbrandt. There are countless other masters and trainers that help shape my experience, most recently I have been focusing on the teachings of Dr. Susan Fay of Sacred Spaces and teaching balance and biomechanics based training while practicing mindfulness and energy awareness.
I have successfully competed in three day eventing, as well as in the dressage and show jumping rings. My multi-faceted education and experience with horses has above all other things taught me that, regardless of discipline, the key component to a successful relationship with a horse is a well-established line of communication. My mission as a trainer, rider, and horseman, is to continue to hone the understanding and skills necessary to garner not only successful partnership with a horse, but one that will last for a lifetime. This philosophy has brought me to the understanding that together we can and should make positive change in our equestrian world.
